Why Oak Lodge Fostering Services?

Fostering with an independent agency

We are an independent agency which means that we recruit, train and support our team of foster carers. We work in partnership with the Child and Family Agency to offer foster care placements to children who require care.

Fostering with us

When you foster with us, you will be part of a supportive, caring and hard-working team. From the point of enquiry you will receive accurate information about the process and be supported throughout assessment and training by friendly, professional workers. You will benefit from ongoing support, advice and guidance throughout your fostering career.

Children are welcomed to Oak Lodge Fostering Services by our foster carers, who put time and care into preparing their family, home and the child’s bedroom to ensure the child feels wanted and welcome.

The placement support worker prepares a welcome pack that contains useful information about being in foster care and each child gets a treasure box full of useful and fun items to begin their new placement. The box can be used to store valuable memories, art work and toys.

The link social worker ensures the foster carers are prepared for the placement by ensuring they have all relevant information about the child and are clear about the plan for the child’s care. The link social worker liaises with the child’s social worker to ensure the move into foster care is as positive as possible for the child.

The whole team has a role in the making of a new foster care placement and supporting the on-going placements; administration, management, governance, compliance, clinical, training, supervision and safeguarding needs the expertise and experience of the whole team.

At Oak Lodge Fostering Services we value all team members and know that our high quality service works, because we work together.

Our Mission

‘Giving children opportunities that others take for granted’ was devised a number of years ago by a group of children in our care and we believe that every child deserves a chance to be part of a loving and caring home.

Our Values

Oak Lodge Fostering Services provides high quality foster care placements to all children and young people in the care of our service because we care about children; they are our priority.

We believe that all children have the right to a childhood that is free from abuse and harm. Adults charged with the care of children have a duty to provide appropriate care and protection that enables children to reach their fullest potential.

Oak Lodge Fostering Services team adopt best practice principles that underpin our approaches to working with children and young people placed in our care. We acknowledge the fundamental rights of children to be protected from harm, treated with respect and dignity, listened to and have their own views taken into consideration.

We consistently apply safe practices in recruitment, support and training of staff and foster carers and recognise that valuing children means valuing workers.

We seek to work collaboratively with all those involved in the life of children in our care and adopt child centred approaches to our practice and decision making.
